ELENA’S PLACE
A Children's Activity Center named
"Elena's Place" has become the dream
of the staff and the Board of Directors
of the Elena Tresh Foundation. In
September 2009, the Foundation
acquired a parcel of property in downtown
Safety Harbor, Florida. A variety of
services will be available for family
members, as well as the sick child.
Various designated "safe" rooms will be
designed to provide a reduced risk of
infection to children with compromised
immune systems, or to those children
going through chemotherapy regimens.
Children with debilitating conditions are
often uncomfortable in public. This safe
haven will provide a place to feel
secure, while providing numerous
activities and services designed to
enhance their quality of life.
FOCUS ON THE FAMILY
The Foundation recognizes the special needs of siblings and other family
members, offering supportive counseling and activities at Elena's Place. A
specialized program pairing families dealing with similar illnesses will be
provided. Groups and specialized activities will occur weekly, focusing on targeted
issues related to grief, anxiety, and other topics that might be experienced
by our clients. Networking and referral services for second opinions, and other
types of support will be available 24 hours a day.
Elena's Place will also provide a clothing closet for clients, as well as a retail
store providing support to the overhead of the facility. Recreational facilities are
planned, including a playground for handicapped children, as well as a Rock
Wall and other indoor games and recreation.
